The CMT with more than 2100 exhibitors offers holiday ideas, the most beautiful travel destinations from all over the world, the largest novelty show for camping and caravanning at the start of the season and a tourist entertainment program. Special travel topics such as bicycles, golf, wellness, cruises and boat trips are presented in separate exhibition areas at the weekends.

Around 300,000 visitors, 2161 exhibitors, excellent grades: Stuttgart holiday fair opens up new dimensions

The CMT has impressively underpinned its status as the world’s largest public trade fair for tourism and leisure: “We are pleased about around 300,000 visitors who visited our exhibition center and the 2161 exhibitors in total within nine days. An absolute record! ”Said Roland Bleinroth, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart, at the end of CMT 2020.

Guido von Vacano, member of the management, added: “The CMT has developed very well. We have expanded our offer, further sharpened the profile in the areas of tourism and caravanning and thus delighted our visitors. ”An even greater variety in the area of ​​caravanning accessories and the focus on“ Vanlife ”, new and attractive tourist destinations, a supporting program with over 600 Events and successful daughter fairs such as bike and hiking trips, golf and wellness trips as well as cruise and ship trips – for Vacano the key to success.

Another factor for success: the clearly expanded program for trade visitors. Over 40 events were on offer for trade visitors on the new “CMTbusiness” platform. Whether fvw Destination Germany Day, Travel Market or parking lot and marina summit up to the day of bus tourism – the special program of the CMT attracted 33,000 trade visitors to Stuttgart.

The Baden-Württemberg Outdoor Award was presented for the second time: 20 tourist offers from all over the federal state had applied, and the Trailsurfers Baden-Württemberg association, the tour operator Cojote Outdoor and the tourism association Mythos Schwäbische Alb for their canyoning Tours in the Falkensteiner cave.

National interest at a high level

The trade fair visitors honored the extensive supporting program as well as the diverse range on the booked-out site. They gave the CMT grade 2. No wonder that 92 percent of the visitors surveyed stated that they wanted to visit the fair again in 2021. And they want to recommend 96 percent to friends and relatives. On average, visitors stayed on the CMT for almost five hours to get information from the exhibitors and to take a look at the 1200 vehicles on display. More than a quarter of the visitors traveled over 100 kilometers to Stuttgart. Nine percent came from Bavaria alone.

The mobile home parking space and the additional parking spaces in the “Motel CMT” were also very popular: the trade fair registered the record number of 8,000 overnight vehicles.

Daughter fairs of the CMT in high demand

The exhibitors at the subsidiary trade fairs, golf and wellness trips and cruise and boat trips, which opened their doors on the second weekend from Thursday to Sunday, were extremely satisfied with the course of the fair. Around 250 companies presented their innovations and offers for the golf and holiday year 2020 in Hall 9. Their unanimous verdict: Not only was the number of visitors pleasingly high, but also their “quality”, ie the specific interest and willingness to book. Both fairs attracted many interested and well-informed visitors on the four CMT days, such as Otto Leibfritz, President of the Baden-Württemberg Golf Associationstated: “We have again noticed a remarkable increase in interest. The visitors were very well informed, we were very pleased with the response and are also very satisfied with the number of visitors. This fair and the organization are the best there is in this area. We will try to integrate even more clubs in the future and will be there again in 2021 – that is a fixed date in our calendar. ” Glenn Smart, Managing Director SmartGolf Reisen: “We are exhibiting in Stuttgart for the second time and have doubled our stand space after the success of the previous year. That is why we are all the more surprised that this year has surpassed the previous one. We had good conversations with interested visitors and are thrilled with the location here. There is no question that we will be there again next year. ” 

Stephanie Fitz from golfXtra by Invatarru GmbH :“ Thanks to our experience, we are now the market leader for golf trips in South Africa. The four days of the fair were absolutely positive and well attended. We were particularly able to get in touch with visitors individually. The success is immediately noticeable, which is why we will definitely be back in 2021. ”

There is also a good atmosphere in the cruise and ship travel sector. Andrea Hendel, Head of Sales at Compagnie du Ponant , was very satisfied: “We have been at the fair for the sixth year and the first few days have been consistently positive for us. Above all, we are enthusiastic about our high-quality and excellent visitors and appreciate the competent discussions. We are still convinced of the concept of the fair and will be there again next year. ” Roland Mössner, member of the management board mm-boat tourism and boat brokerage :“ We are absolutely satisfied and are already planning for the coming year. The trade fair is well organized and the support from the trade fair team is flawless. ”

Bicycle tours and hiking continue to gain momentum

On the first CMT weekend, the bicycle and hiking trips were the focus of interest. Bicycle and hiking tourism is on the road to success and is enjoying growing popularity. The 350 exhibitors were able to convince themselves of this once again. They praised a knowledgeable, interested audience who specifically asked about current trends, undiscovered travel regions for hiking and cycling trips, or asked about the right accessories and suitable clothing.

CMT China, Touristik & Caravaning Leipzig, CMT 2021

If you don’t want to wait until the CMT 2021 in Stuttgart, you have two alternatives: The next CMT China will take place in Nanjing from May 29 to 31, 2020. In addition, Messe Stuttgart is organizing the “Touristik & Caravaning” fair for the third time from November 18 to 22, 2020 at the Leipzig exhibition center.

The CMT 2021 in Stuttgart runs from January 23 to 31.

Dr. Holger Siebert, Managing Director, Eura Mobil and Trigano Germany: “The main brand Eura Mobil as a quality brand in the upmarket sector shows strongly increasing sales, which meanwhile lead to delivery periods of several months. The entry-level brand Forster benefits from the many new visitors. With its young appearance and affordable prices, it has the youngest buyers of all motorhome brands. Moving the Karmann-Mobil van brand from the ‘established’ hall 1 to the new ‘panel van hall 10’ worked well. The visitors accepted the hall well and welcomed the ‘Allrad Arena’ as a highlight at the Karmann-Mobil stand. ”

Götz Rutenkolk, Managing Director, VanTourer: “We are very, very, very satisfied with the quality of the visitors and the influx of visitors. The Paul Horn Halle proved to be an excellent platform for the panel van issue because it was primarily visited by people who were already dealing with the subject. A young, sporty audience in particular recognizes and appreciates the multipurpose uses. All in all, it was the most successful CMT we’ve ever had! ”
