CosmeticBusiness is the only international trade fair in Europe where the cosmetics industry meets exclusively with its suppliers and finds solutions for the development of all cosmetic products from active ingredients to manufacture and packaging. As the only industry meeting place in Germany, the largest cosmetics market in Europe, the B2B trade fair exhibition is an indispensable trend barometer for decision-makers from management, product management and development, marketing, as well as purchasing and production.
CosmeticBusiness from 5 to 6 June 2019 appeared at its best and most international side: 449 exhibitors and represented companies from 22 countries showcased new products and trends from the cosmetics supplying industry in MOC Munich’s four fully booked halls. In terms of content, the industry meeting point was impressive, featuring topics such as innovation and sus-tainability, and provided trade visitors from 59 countries with information and inspiration for product development.
“Fully booked exhibition halls, a high level of internationality, very satisfied exhibitors and visitors as well as numerous innovations and trends – CosmeticBusiness continues to grow and show that it is the most important industry meeting place for the cosmetics supplying industry in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and to an increasing extent also in neighbouring countries”, says Markus Geisenberger, Chief Executive Officer of Leipziger Messe, and adds: “With current industry issues such as sustainability, our trade fair was on the cutting edge.”
Growing Internationality and Great Variety of Exhibitors
In 2019 CosmeticBusiness got off to the right start: The increased exhibition space of 13,000 square metres was fully booked five months before the start of the event. 449 exhibitors (2018: 419 exhibitors) and represented companies from 22 countries presented their newest cosmetic products and solutions in all four MOC Munich halls. 75 new exhibitors enriched the four exhibition domains of CosmeticBusiness – Ingredients, Manufacturing, Packaging and Service – which cover the entire cosmetics value chain in one place in Munich and provide visitors with 360-degree product development. This time, CosmeticBusiness was even more international: 43 per cent of the exhibitors were from abroad, primarily from France, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Last year, the figure was 37 per cent.
Bernd Stauch, Senior Director Sales Cosmetics at Gerresheimer, also observed this development: “It is very important for us to be present at CosmeticBusiness every year. This is where we have the opportunity to exchange ideas with the entire cosmetics supplying industry. We have also noticed that the trade fair has become increasingly international during the past few years. When we first visited the fair, most of the exhibitors were from German-speaking countries, but now more and more derive from other countries. Nevertheless, CosmeticBusiness remains pleasantly compact: trade visitors can get an overview of the entire industry in one day without any problems or hassle. The talks have also benefited from this development.”
Trade Fair Quality Won over Exhibitors and Trade Visitors Alike
The majority of exhibitors considered CosmeticBusiness 2019 a complete success. An official survey of the trade fair conducted by the independent market research company Gelszus Messe-Marktforschung revealed that 92 per cent of exhibitors rated their trade fair participation as successful. 93 per cent of the respondents expect good post-fair business and 90 per cent plan on participating at CosmeticBusiness 2020. The exhibitors were particularly impressed by the high professional quality of the visitors. 97 per cent were pleased with the professional qualifications of their conversation partners.
Trade visitors also came to a positive conclusion: 90 per cent of the respondents intend to visit the fair again and 93 per cent would recommend CosmeticBusiness to others. Furthermore, not only did visitor satisfaction increase by four per cent, but the industry event also grew in terms of country diversity: Trade visitors from 59 countries (2018: 55 countries) came to CosmeticBusiness this year.
Most Important Meeting Place for Cosmetics Manufacturers and Their Suppliers
The official trade fair survey confirmed once again just how important CosmeticBusiness has become for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and increasingly for neighbouring countries as well. Every second visitor stressed that for them, CosmeticBusiness is the most important cosmetics supplier fair of the year.
“I regularly attend the trade fair in Munich and was absolutely thrilled once again: No other trade fair can be described by the title ‘industry meeting place’ as well as CosmeticBusiness. This is where the most important contacts from the entire industry can be found in a small area and where all relevant contacts are always on site. I was able to once again bring back many exciting insights and will certainly be back next year,” says Marco Schöner, Managing Director of Duesberg medical GmbH.
Innovations and Sustainability – CosmeticBusiness Provides Important Input
This year, CosmeticBusiness addressed the great demand for ecological, sustainable and innovative products from the cosmetics supplying industry in an even more focused manner with new theme routes such as the “Green Route” and “Innovation Route.” It impressed exhibitors and trade visitors alike with these current focal points.
“CosmeticBusiness was exactly the right place for us to present our packaging solutions. Sustainability is a particularly relevant issue in the German market and this was also evident at CosmeticBusiness 2019. We were repeatedly approached about products that we exhibited in Spotlight, were able to make lots of interesting new contacts and meet three of our biggest clients in Germany. After this successful debut we will probably come back next year”, reports Stefano Focolari, CEO & Managing Director at mktg industry from Italy.
Conference Programme is Extremely Popular
The conference programme, which was very well attended on both days of the fair, was also devoted to the main topics of innovation and sustainability. “Every year CosmeticBusiness presents the most important trends and developments in the cosmetics industry in the conference programme. Sustainable packaging solutions in particular attracted a great deal of interest from visitors at the conference programme this year. Lectures on topics such as recyclability and sustainable design were packed,” says Project Director Ivonne Simons and adds: “The success of this year’s CosmeticBusiness has already made us look forward to the next edition.”
The next CosmeticBusiness will take place from 17 to 18 June 2020 at the MOC Munich.
