The biennial interbad Stuttgart spans the full spectrum of use for swimming pools, sauna and spa from medicinal to sports and wellness. The trade fair boasts a comprehensive overview of innovations in the product chain, while the German Society for Bathing discusses the next generation of solutions, options and possibilities for the sector as part of their congress. During interbad 2020 exhibitors will demonstrate their latest to representatives of wellness venues, medical facilities, hotels and public pools.

Over 14,000 visitors, 416 exhibitors, 35,000 square meters of exhibition space, more than 90 lectures, workshops and discussions in four events in the congress and supporting program – these are the key dates of interbad 2018, which ended today (October 26) in Stuttgart. The coherent concept of the trade fair for swimming pools, saunas and spas, which is organized by the German Bathing Association (DGfdB) together with Messe Stuttgart, convinced exhibitors and visitors alike. Katrin Schütz, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Housing in the State of Baden-Württemberg: “interbad is a success story! With the focus on digitization,
Trade fair managing director Ulrich Kromer von Baerle emphasized the unique concept: “It allows the areas of swimming pool, sauna and spa to merge successfully. And this for both the public and private sectors. The interbad is particularly unique in the sauna area and creates synergies for industry, trade and service providers. ”

The proportion of visitors from abroad is consistently high at 27 percent. In total, visitors from 62 countries were registered, including primarily interested parties from Switzerland, Austria, Russia, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands.

A third of the visitors to interbad 2018 are owners or managing directors of a company. Overall, almost 90 percent stated that they were involved in purchasing and procurement decisions in the company. The investment intentions of visitors have also developed positively compared to 2016. 84 percent of the visitors stated that they definitely or possibly want to invest. “We are delighted to have an audience with clear investment intentions, which makes the fair even more attractive for our exhibitors,” explained trade fair managing director Ulrich Kromer von Baerle.

Visitor satisfaction reached its peak at interbad 2018. 96 percent (2016: 92%) assume that interbad will gain in importance in the future or will remain the same. Overall, visitors rate interbad with an average grade of 1.9 (2016: 2.1). Three quarters of the visitors also said they wanted to visit interbad 2020. Almost 90 percent would certainly recommend the fair or recommend it to others.

In terms of content, the trade fair was again innovative: In order to do justice to the topic of “securing specialists and managers” that is relevant in many industries, interbad presented the so-called “Career Center” for the first time in 2018. A separate area where various training and further education institutes could present their offer.

Experts and industry representatives also discussed trends and pressing questions at the 67th Congress for Bathing. Various focal points of the three-day congress dealt with the question of what opportunities digitalization brings for pool planning and operation. Important current issues, such as the urgently needed young talent, were also discussed. “We reduced the topic blocks in the congress a bit this year, but had significantly more visitors, which was already apparent when registering,” said Dr. Christian Ochsenbauer, Managing Director of the DGfdB. “The subject block ‘The digital future in pool planning and pool management’ has been very well received by the participants. Digitization has arrived in the mind. The congress went very well overall. ”

The annual Saunaimpulse conference of the German Sauna Association also took place on October 24 and 25. There were two topics on the agenda: the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the changes that have become necessary in public baths and saunas as well as the practice of infusion with pure essential oils. “The core brand of the sauna, such as health effects for the user, relaxation and personal hygiene, have been increasingly linked to experiences in recent years,” explains Rolf-Andreas Pieper, Managing Director of the German Sauna Association. “The sauna is in an area of tension between relaxation and experience, where the practice of infusion plays a crucial role.”

As part of the interbad, the German Society for Bathing e. V. (DGfdB), again the “Public Value Award for the public bathroom 2018”. She has been running the competition every two years since 2010. In his speech, Dr. hc Fritz Schramma, President of the DGfdB, announced the winners and pointed out that the seven award-winning pools are also located in seven different federal states. This could be a coincidence, but shows that living in the common good and experiencing the common good is not a question of the location.

With the “Innovation Award” audience award, the trade fair organizers want to draw attention to the high level of innovation in the industry and to honor special market innovations. A total of 13 participants exhibited their product developments in the “Innovation Area” at interbad 2018 in Stuttgart. In any case, the interest of the visitors was high: Almost 6,000 votes were cast during the current trade fair and previously during online voting.

No wonder that there was consistently positive feedback from the exhibitors: “interbad is the leading trade fair for bathroom technology and is also perceived as such. It offers us a very high quality environment in which we present our high quality products. The willingness to invest is many times greater than two years ago and overall the mood at the fair was very good, ”summarized Norbert Pohlen, market area manager for leisure facilities, Scheidt and Bachmann. Cedrik Mayer-Klenk, Managing Director of Chemoform AG, was also satisfied: “My conclusion: very international. We are satisfied with the number of visitors and the fair and have nothing to criticize. In Swabia it is said: ‘Not scolded is already praised’, so everything is ok. ”
